Vacuum equipment certified for ATEX zones
Get maximum safety and ergonomics with stainless steel lifting systems suitable for ATEX zones.
The explosive atmosphere in the form of dust or gas around the load to be lifted, will be sucked by the pump through the tubes, filter and pump. It is important to take great care in the selection and placement of each component; and to bear in mind that every part of the equipment may be affected, even if it is not in the ATEX zone.
The placement of the vacuum pump is crucial in an ATEX environment, unlike placement in an ordinary environment.
In fact, the pump expels the air and the explosive atmosphere is sucked up by the suction cup. Placing the pump outside the ATEX zone, or in another room, may be a good option to reduce noise or save space in a limited area. However, placing the pump outside the ATEX zone does not eliminate the need for an ATEX-certified pump for the chosen zone.
The explosive atmosphere will continue to pass through the pump, so it must be protected against the risk of overheating and approved for a certain temperature.
Zones 1 and 2.1 have higher requirements than zones 2 and 2.2, so there are some differences in what we can offer.
Zone 1 and 2.1
The vacuum lifting system and its ATEX-approved tools are made of STAINLESS STEEL and are grounded via braids to ensure that no sparks resulting from static electricity can create a fire. The lifting system and accessories are therefore certified for Zones 1 & 2.1 as well as lower classification zones.
The only pump option available for Zones 1 & 2.1 is the compressed air ejector (Venturi) system. There are no moving parts in the ejector, so there's no risk of sparking or heat generation. This makes it a viable option for Zone 1 & 2.1. TAWI can also supply a variety of different jib crane solutions manufactured in stainless steel and approved for use in ATEX environments.
Zone 2 and 2.2
All equipment approved for zones 1 & 2.1 will be approved for use in ATEX zones of lower classification. Consequently, the TAWI Multifunction, accessories, compressed-air ejector and stainless-steel jibs will operate in Zones 2 & 2.2. Furthermore, in addition to the equipment mentioned above, TAWI can supply a variety of ATEX electric pumps for Zone 2 or 2.2, differentiated by GAS or POSSIERE classification.
